Gerald Colunga is an artist whose lifelong love
of music has developed into acoustic pop/rock performances in coffeehouses,
restaurants and other intimate venues. With a playlist that runs
from pop standards to modern rock, Gerald's performances reflect
his widely varied favorites.
A self-taught musician who neither reads nor writes
music, Gerald's interpretation of songs can often leave you wondering
why they weren't written that way in the first place.
Gerald's influences are as eclectic as his playlist.
His favorite guitarists include Brian May (Queen,) Davey Johnstone
(Elton John,) and Jose Feliciano. His vocal influences include Sam
Harris, Judy Garland, and Freddie Mercury. He enjoys a wide variety
of musical styles as well. Gerald is frequently asked what his favorite
song is. "I'd say that my favorite musical piece is Beethoven's
'Moonlight Sonata,' but, my all-time 'pop' standard would have to
be 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' or, really, anything by Harold Arlen.
It's the one song that I'll never sing until I'm ready to call it
quits".
Gerald is also passionate about the songs from
Hollywood and Broadway Musicals. His favorite Hollywood musical is
'A Star Is Born' with Judy Garland who Gerald reveres as one of the
greatest entertainers ever. Gerald's frequently performed renditions
of 'Any Dream Will Do' and 'Close Every Door' pay homage to his beloved
'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'.
Gerald lives in the Inland Empire with his wife
and son.
